What is Childhood Sexual Abuse? Child sexual abuse is defined as sexual activity with a child by an adult, adolescent or older child
Approximately one in four adult women and one in thirteen men were abused sexually as children
What are some potential signs of sexual abuse in children? Change in personality, new fears, regressive behaviors such as bed-wetting, self-harm (cutting, risky behavior), asking vague questions or making vague statements about topics such as secrets, unusual ‘games’, or adult behaviors
The actual extent of child sexual abuse is unknown because many victims choose not to disclose or report their experiences.
Most victims know and trust their abusers (family members, church members, teachers, etc)
