Things to know about Body Dysmorphia
Body dysmorphia is where "you have a body part that you don't align with." It is a disorder where one fixates on "flaws" in their appearance, whether noticeable by others or not.
Which body part one fixates on varies from person to person but typically includes facial features, skin, hair, breast size, muscles, or wrinkles.
BD does not discriminate. It can affect all genders.
Causes for BD are unknown, however, can be associated with genetics, OCD, PTSD, and anxiety.
Body dysmorphia can cause extreme anxiety, depression, isolation, and even suicidal thoughts.
Treatments for BD can include counseling and medications.
